A Calibrated Balance - Buddy Story
*Whilst I published this story because I wanted to see more of the cat, I do really love this cat!! I'm once again finding myself distracted by ai's twisted version of reality, namely my hometown of Sydney. I'm guessing that if you stick an image of the Sydney Opera House and and image of the Sydney Harbour Bridge together on the same page at the same time, according to the ai bot anyway, you must be in Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺... umm, No. 🤦 The Story: I set the surveyor's triangular glass prism atop an abandoned brass postal scale resting on a sandstone bench. The brass lever bowed instantly under the crystalline weight, its counter-pointer swinging erratically across an engraved oz-and-dram register. Keeping my sidearm holstered, I signaled my golden feline operative to intervene; with measured poise, my companion mounted the opposite counterbalance pan, steadying the seesaw with the calibrated mass of its metallic chassis. The pointer hovered and locked squarely onto the central zero notch. With the equilibrium documented in my ledger, the afternoon light caught the leveled glass, casting a clean, stationary beam across the stone.
