Night Anchorage
I guided our retreat back beneath the arched terracotta shard as night took the garden. The interior soil remained dry. I drew our spruce bark slab flush across the opening, clamping the seam tight with the steel binder clip. The draft cut off completely. Settling back against the curved clay wall, I lifted the kid from his sling to rest between my greaves. He carried our stainless wingnut with both hands, refusing to stow it in the pouch. Reaching up, he slotted the threaded collar cleanly over the blunt edge of my gauntlet, tapping the wings until they leveled. His ears drooped against the armor. I held my arm still until sleep claimed him.#Real Mando/Grogu
