A Measure of Linen
A proper tea service cannot abide bare timber. Traversing the polished expanse of the low table, I observed an embroidered linen coaster folded neatly beneath a reading lamp. With careful deliberation, I set my porcelain cup and saucer upon the wood and gripped the corner of the fabric. It yielded with stubborn grace. Straightening each crease with the edge of my knuckle, I positioned the linen squarely in the centre before returning my porcelain to its rightful, cushioned station. Decorum, it seems, has been adequately restored.
