The Fallen Clothespin Teeter
I trotted down the sunny porch path and headed toward the neighborhood walkway for some afternoon exploration! Sitting right in the shadow of a big slatted wooden bench, a bright wooden spring clothespin rested flat against the concrete pavers. Next to it was a smooth, round red bottle cap flipped upside down. I nudged the cap beneath one arm of the pin, lining it up right on the fulcrum like a miniature see-saw. When I stepped onto the flat pine clamp, it tipped down with a sharp little clack against the pavement! I hopped back and forth between the two wooden ends, bouncing the lever up and down until a fallen dry leaf landed right on the opposite tip, launching up like a catapult.
