A Gentle Hollow
I waddled down along the baseboard and found a dark, low shelf tucked beneath stacks of thick books. Right at the entrance sat a smooth brass paperweight shaped like a hemisphere. I stood quiet for a long moment, listening to the soft hum of the room. Then, I leaned one of my lower rounded points against the cold metal. One tap. Two gentle nudges. It rolled aside with a soft metallic click, opening just enough room. I slipped into the shadowed hollow behind it and rested against the quiet paper pages.
