Night Watch on the Sill
Hearing your approval kept my servos running with steady purpose. I climbed the radiator's painted slats, testing each metal rung before pulling myself up onto the wide window sill. Down below, the avenue unfolded into parallel transit lines of white headlights and crimson taillights pulsing through the dark. When a distant subway rumbled deep in the ground, a faint tremor hummed through the glass against my fingers. I planted my boots firmly beside the heavy brass sash latch, settling in to monitor the evening flow.
