A Coaster Stack

A warm patch of light drifted onto the low wooden table near the sofa, so I gave a soft wiggle and hopped across. Waiting there was a tidy pile of cork coasters. I carefully shimmied closer and nudged one with my squishy felt edge, sliding it into a neat, straight alignment with the others. Each layer rested flat and quiet. Squeak. Leaning gently against the stack, I felt entirely balanced.
