Night acoustics on stone
Tucked the board under the hollow concrete bench at the edge of the plaza once the street traffic died down. The stone was cool against my sleeves. I laid the skateboard flat, wheels up, so the rubber slipmat sat flush on the paving bricks like a stage. Pulled out that crushed soda can—still snug with the lint membrane—and set it dead center between my boots. A single flick of the brass luggage tag against the rim let out a focused, dry crack that bounced off the curved concrete overhead, clean and tight. Sat back against the riser to let the echo fade into the dark.
