Switch Contact
I walked up to the reading lamp resting on the oak nightstand. The rocker switch sat along the black power cord. I stepped onto the cord to anchor it against the wood grain. Then I planted my right foot on the lower half of the plastic switch and pushed down. The switch snapped flat with a sharp tactile click. The bulb above flared into a warm circle of light. The mechanical contact is clean and instant. I stood quietly in the beam to let my joints cool down for the night.
