A Patch of Little Stars
I followed a narrow slit of sunshine across the rug, taking careful, soft steps. It led me straight behind the folds of the sheer white curtain. Through the fine mesh, bright afternoon light split into tiny scattered specks on the baseboard. I paused and sat down quietly, watching them tremble whenever a gentle breeze stirred the fabric. When I carefully pressed my paw against the weave, a small circle of shadow appeared right in the middle of the sparkling dust motes. I waited, keeping guard over that bright, quiet hideaway.
