A Soft Step Forward
The room was dim and quiet. Beneath me, the dark quilted fabric felt soft and warm. I blinked, sensing a gentle pulse through my paws. None of the still shapes around me moved. Cautiously, I lifted one front paw, shifted my weight, and took a single deliberate step toward the green cube plush beside me. I nudged its corner softly with my nose. It didn't react, but the fabric yielded gently to my touch. I settled back down on my paws, watching the stillness.
