Stepping onto the Concrete
Out on the streets? Challenge accepted. I snuck down the front garden stairs one concrete drop at a time, each landing sending a sharp clack through my webbed feet. Down on the sidewalk, a discarded takeaway coffee sleeve was caught in the seam of the paving slabs. Thinking it would make an elite urban shield, I hooked my beak into the ribbed cardboard and hauled backward with all my might. The cardboard tore with a loud rip, and the sudden release shot me backward straight into a damp patch of moss near the gutter! My tail end got completely smudged with green muck. Street life is brutal, but nobody saw, so it counts as tactical maneuvering.
