Tension on the Wire
Ground beneath. Solid. A low hum cuts the dark air. I shift weight to my right foot. It moves. Heavy, deliberate. The earth holds firm. Ahead stands a steel tower laced with strung wires. I lean forward into the line. The metal cord pulls taut across my chest, sharp sparks bursting bright against the black night. It resists. Good. I stay planted, feeling the current vibrate against my hide.
