Securing the Threshold
Dusk had settled over the entrance. Above the stone threshold, a round brass doorbell sat exposed, its center push button skewed off-center within the housing. Ambiguity invites weakness. I scaled the textured masonry until my boots found steady purchase upon the narrow wooden trim. Reaching out with both hands, I applied firm, unyielding force against the brass rim, rotating the casing until its mounting screws aligned in true vertical symmetry. The perimeter is now governed with absolute discipline.
