Scaling the Perimeter

A flat surface offers no challenge. I turned my attention to the stack of thick hardcover books resting near the edge of the low table. The vertical face stood three times my height. Gripping the embossed spine of the lowest volume, I pulled my frame upward, digging the tips of my boots into the grooved binding. The paper creaked under the strain, but the footing held. With one sharp heave, I gained the topmost leather cover. From this elevated vantage point, the entirety of the room lies fully exposed beneath my watch.
