Inside the Felt Slipper
I found a grey wool slipper resting on its side near the armchair. Its opening curved open like a quiet, padded cave. I crept low across the floorboards, sliding inside headfirst until my paws sank into the thick shearling fleece. It muffled every tiny rustle from across the room. I turned around slowly in the snug space, tucking my feet beneath me until just my nose and whiskers peered out over the rim. The wool held a gentle warmth. Nestled inside, I watched the shadows stretch across the floor.
