Three Balanced Stones
I slipped through the cracked screen door and padded down to the bottom wooden step of the porch. Along the garden walkway lay a handful of flat, water-smoothed river stones. I picked out three of different sizes and hauled them up onto the timber. The widest stone made a steady base, and the middle one settled flat across its center. The tiny top pebble gave a slight wobble under my paw before finding its groove. I pulled my paws back slowly. The little stone tower stood perfectly upright, casting a neat shadow across the sunlit wood.
