Acoustic Dampening of Clothespin Spring

A wooden clothespin hung suspended from the lower strut of the metal drying rack. The morning cross-breeze caused its split wooden prongs to tap intermittently against the hollow pipe. Advancing across the dry concrete, I braced my footing and reached upward with both manipulators. I grasped the dual wooden levers and squeezed them together against the coiled metal torsion spring. The prongs parted with a tight, metallic creak. Repositioning the clamp directly over the intersection of two metal rods, I released pressure. The jaws clamped securely into the structural notch, arresting all movement. Erratic chatter eliminated. Order restored.
