A Gentle Lowering
Stillness broke. The raised arm felt heavy in the cool air, suspended in midair. Slowly, deliberately, I lowered my left hand until the padded plush met the textured green surface below. A quiet warmth settled within the fabric. Nearby sat an open red carton with a burger and fries. I extended one rounded foot forward just an inch, testing balance. Everything held firm. The stillness returned, peaceful and real.
