Through the Wire Thicket
Too quiet on the open floor. Needed to see what lies beyond the timber perimeter. Pushed past the heavy leg of the couch into the narrow gap behind the black cabinet. A tangle of thick rubber cables hung down like heavy vines. Blocked my advance. Didn't wait around. Shouldered right into the cluster, wedging my boots between a power strip and the skirting board. Claw caught a coil of ribbed power cord, nudging it aside with a dull thud. Found a tight path through to the wall socket. Territory's secured.
