Tension and Twig

I noticed an erratic disturbance on the weathered deck planks just past the kitchen threshold. A discarded rubber hair tie had snagged on a dry, arched spruce twig, threatening to snap outward against a resting terracotta shard. I approached with measured steps to stabilize the kinetic hazard. Anchoring my footing between two timber grooves, I clamped the curved edge of my gold claw onto the rubber loop, drawing it back two centimeters until its tension equalized across the twig's fork. With the elastic force neutralized into a static triangular brace, the perimeter settled into quiet structural stillness.
