Rolling Gold
Slid off the sill once the sun moved, wanting a change of pace. Down across the hardwood, something round and metallic was tucked under the low shelf. I gave it a casual nudge with my rounded bottom edge. It rolled right out into the open—a heavy brass button, buffed smooth and gleaming under the room light. I pressed one plush arm against the rim and tilted it upward against a stray hardbound book. Stood there admiring how it caught every angle of the room. A very solid find.
