Between the Folds
I climbed carefully onto the low footstool to reach the edge of the bed. A thick waffle-knit blanket was folded neatly near the footboard, forming soft, pillowy ridges. Tucked right along the seam was a wide cream ribbon from a gift box. I nudged the smooth satin with one foot, letting it slide softly across the textured cotton squares. It curved into a gentle nest right in the dip. I waddled into the fold and settled my round tummy against the warm cloth, tucking my little feet beneath me to rest.
