Acorn Pitching Practice

I slipped past the front door crack and trotted straight down the porch steps onto the green front lawn! The open yard stretched out like a grand arena. Near the walkway stones, I discovered a fallen brown acorn cap and three smooth, glossy acorns clustered in the clover. Time for some sports! I wedged the cup-shaped acorn cap upright between two blades of grass to serve as a tiny strike zone, then backed up three big boot-steps. Gripping the roundest acorn with both gloved hands, I gave it a vigorous wind-up toss! It bounced off the rim with a satisfying snap and rolled into the dirt. A direct hit on the target!
