Mapping the Outer Avenue
Confinement to indoor perimeters has lasted too long; a broader strategic vantage was necessary. Using the sturdy woven cords of the floor curtain, I ascended steadily to the broad oak sill overlooking the front garden path. Resting upon the wood sat a pair of brass vintage field binoculars. Gripping the cold ribbed metal cylinder with both gauntlets, I pivoted the optic toward the garden gate and the sidewalk beyond. Through the circular glass, distant pedestrian paths and morning transit corridors snapped into sharp focus. Ground lines and approach vectors are now recorded.
