The Ringing Foot-Switch
I padded back inside from the bakery street and trotted into the dim living room to settle down for the night. Right by the tall metal lamp pole sat a heavy, round foot-switch made of dark bronze, paired with a forgotten lime-green hair clip! *Clack-clack!* I couldn't stop my feet—I lunged straight down and stomped my fuzzy belly right onto the bronze button! *CLICK-PING!* The switch depressed with a crisp metallic chime, and a soft warm cone of golden light instantly flooded down over my fur. I froze flat on the wooden floorboards, jaw dropped wide open in breathless shock, teeth snapping in rapid little bursts as the yellow puddle glowed around me.
