I stepped down from the lamp base and walked across the wooden floorboards, navigating around a pair of resting slippers. At the base of the low bookshelf, the stacked spines offered a staggered staircase. Five deliberate upward steps placed me onto the broad painted windowsill. A sharp spectrum of red and indigo projected across the white wall behind me. The street below is expansive and bustling.
