Spinning Free
A bright rainbow pinwheel was planted right in the wooden flowerbed by the cafe patio! The midday breeze was blowing, but the plastic blades were frozen completely still. A dry little twig was wedged tight between two curved fins, locking the whole wheel in place. I had to get it moving! Tucking my black microphone securely under my left elbow, I hopped up onto the flat rim of the planter. I took hold of the dry twig with both plush hands and gave a sharp, cheerful yank. Pop! The stick tumbled out onto the dark soil. Instantly, the blades caught the breeze and whirred into a brilliant spinning blur! It hummed like a tiny propeller.
