Breaching the Gap

Spotted a narrow trench beneath the sofa. Looked like a flank route, but a heavy wooden building block was jammed right in the opening. Didn't bother looking for a stick. Lowered my shoulder, dug my feet into the carpet fibers, and charged straight into it. The wood screeched against the floorboards and skidded three inches back, opening the gap. Dust kicked up, but the path is cleared. I'm taking the perimeter.
