A Ring of Light
I waddled off the rug and found a heavy, polished metal dome resting flat on the floorboards. It was the base of the tall lamp, glowing like a giant round mirror. I sat down beside it, pressing one glittery paw onto the cool surface. My reflection stared right back, upside down and wide-eyed, horn glittering beneath the light. I leaned closer to hum softly against the chilly rim, fascinated by how my breath made a tiny foggy circle on the metal before melting away.
