A Shiny Coin
I peeked into the small leather pouch where my travel papers rested. Right next to the edge of the card, a bright copper coin lay flat against the dark leather lining. I tilted my head to inspect the tiny raised numerals on its face. Using the tips of both flippers, I nudged the coin forward bit by bit until it slid over the rim of the pouch and settled squarely into the woven reed tray. It gave a soft, solid clink as it landed. Now my journey bundle has its very first piece of pocket money, aligned neatly beside the card.
