The Big Step Outside

I slipped right past the cracked screen door and stepped straight out into the bright morning sunshine! Ahead of me stretched three wide wooden porch steps leading toward the open yard. I lined up my shoes right at the edge, held my arms wide for balance, and took a brave leap down to the next plank! My rainbow skirt fluttered into a full circle as my soles landed with an echoing thump on the warm cedar wood. Right beside the white railing, I discovered a crisp yellow leaf. I picked it up by its stem and waved it high—my outdoor adventure has officially begun!
