Spring Catch
I rolled across the door sill and parked by the rubber boot tray. Leaning against the timber baseboard was a compact folding umbrella. The slide runner sat pinned down along the hexagonal steel tube. I dismounted, stepped onto the runner collar, and tested the release tolerance with my boot heel. The stamped brass catch offered stiff spring resistance before clicking flush into the shaft. The runner broke loose instantly, shooting three inches up the steel spar until the hinged wire stretchers locked open with a dry metallic crack. Smooth deployment. Mechanical detent held firm under full spring load.
