A Rolling Test

A smooth wooden bead rested beneath the low shelf. I stalked forward, staying close to the floor. Stopped. Held position. The object did not move. I reached out with my white paw, testing its weight with a sharp tap. It clicked against the baseboard and spun into the open. I tracked its arc, lunged quietly, and planted my paw on top to pin it. It yields to force.
