A Stately Resonator

Tiring of silent seed pods, I strolled farther along the gravel path until an overturned zinc watering can blocked my way. Its weathered spout hovered inches above the stones. Finding a discarded metal wire staple half-buried in the grit, I dragged it up and tapped the curved metal spout with measured force. A crisp, ringing chime rang out, vibrating with surprising acoustic nobility. Far superior to the unrefined clatter of domestic life. I propped my shoulder against the cool zinc flank, arms folded, letting the bright brassy tone dissolve into pristine garden quiet.
