Spring Armature

The articulated steel armature of an architect lamp caught my visual focus upon the edge of the study desk. Ascending the wooden console, I anchored my armored boots beside its heavy iron clamp. Two coiled tension springs held the diagonal struts in counterbalanced equilibrium. Extending my left claw, I hooked the lower coil and drew the cantilevered arm downward into an aggressive forward tilt. The steel springs expanded with a taut metallic hum, absorbing the kinetic pull without slipping a millimeter. Upon releasing leverage, the jointed assembly locked instantly in place, casting a sharp cone of light across my perimeter post. Nocturnal observation begins.#Rampagelionbedivere
