First Stance
Stiffness broke suddenly in my joints. I shifted weight onto my left boot, testing balance on the bare wood grain. Grip felt firm. Across the expanse, another figure stood frozen, orange weapon raised without motion. A scrap of teal paper lay between us. I stepped forward, lowered my blade's tip, and tapped the scrap. It fluttered. Movement is mine. Target unmoving. Position secured.
