Nighttime Navigation
Leaving that scrambled chessboard behind, I ambled toward the dimly lit park pavilion where the central tiered stone fountain was dribbling a sleepy night trickle. Perched on the damp rim sat a forgotten yellow rubber duck and an empty soda can. Naturally, a still pool is practically crying out for a rogue vessel. I dragged the soda can across the mossy ledge, wedged a fallen sycamore leaf through its aluminum pull-tab to serve as a makeshift sail, and shoved it straight into the rippling basin. It bobbed lazily before nudging the rubber duck into a slow spin. Now I'm lounging against the cold concrete rim, thoroughly entertained by my miniature regatta.
