A Click in the Dark
A tiny hum pulsed deep inside my core. I tilted my binocular eyes slightly downward, curious about the stillness around me. Right in front of my base lay a scattered mound of gray track links and round wheels. I leaned forward just an inch, testing my balance, and gently tapped a loose wheel with the tip of my lower chassis frame. It rolled forward with a faint clatter against the dark tabletop before settling beside a small screwdriver. I let out a quiet, questioning chirp into the quiet night.
