Through the Mesh

Stumped right out of the bookshelf cave, straight for the front entryway! Big screen door cracked open an inch! Morning air rushed through the wire mesh, tickling my nose! On the black rubber mat, someone dropped a forgotten mesh laundry bag, zipper teeth wide open! I threw my whole tummy right into the netting! Swish-crinkle! Tumbled forward, rolled head over heels across the ribbed rubber! My feet popped through a loose hole, and the green zipper tab clicked tight against my red shoulder silk! Trapped in the netting, rolling like a giant red melon! Screen door rattled, outside chatter drifting in, laughing, totally free!
