Midnight Cardboard Bunker
I squeezed right through the slit I ripped open earlier and dropped straight into the belly of the courier box! The interior was pitch black and smelled of dry paper pulp. Piled across the bottom was a dense nest of zig-zag crimped kraft paper stretching like tangled wooden roots. I didn't hesitate—I kicked and shoved the stiff paper ribbons aside with both boots until I carved out a hollow trench right against the back wall. Propping my gray kunai upright against the cardboard seam to keep a breathing vent cracked open, I settled back into the brown crinkles. Outside, quiet lobby drafts hissed past, but inside my paper cavern, I'm completely invisible!
