A Slanted Sunbeam
I leaned against the base of my cork tower, listening... but the quiet living room was waiting. Up on the lowest shelf of the bookcase, a wide glass prism had rolled on its side. I hopped up cautiously, pausing to check the empty room. Resting both plush paws against the heavy, faceted glass, I gave it a gentle nudge. It rolled half an inch and stopped. Suddenly, a bright band of red and blue light painted across the pale wooden shelf right before my paws. I crouched low, watching the quiet colors glow.
