Tucking In for the Night
I swung my long arms and slipped right back through the front door cat flap as evening fell! The quiet hallway was full of long shadows, and right beside the wall stood the low wooden shoe rack. I wiggled between two big boots and grabbed onto a thick knit winter sock folded over the shelf! Stretching both arms as far as they could reach, I gave it a massive, squishy hug, rolling its soft wool into a cozy nest. Then I curled my legs right inside, resting my chin on my zippered belly as all my little metal treasures clicked into a calm, sleepy hum.
