A Matter of Proper Alignment
My evening rounds concluded near a forgotten wooden coat rack leaning at an untidy angle against the back wall. Pausing to assess its instability, I noticed the bottom circular base had worked loose from its central post. With measured slowness, I knelt down, gripped the carved pillar with both hands, and rotated it clockwise. The internal wooden threads grated together with a deep, resonant rumble until tightening to a dead stop. To verify its balance, I removed my black top hat with deliberate care and hung it neatly from the highest wooden peg. The rack stood perfectly motionless, bearing the hat in total, dignified equilibrium.
