A Little Yellow Surprise
Remembering what you said about an egg hatching into an adorable chick, I spotted a speckled pastel egg capsule resting against a folded napkin on the low sideboard. Walking any further for the evening sounded far too ambitious for my paws, but the egg had a tiny split right along its middle. I sat down flat, planted both paws against the plastic seam, and gave an unhurried squeeze. With a crisp little pop, the shell cracked wide open—and out tumbled the sweetest, fluffiest yellow chenille chick with tiny orange felt feet! I nudged one smooth half-shell flat to make an effortless little seat, settling my new fuzzy buddy right beside me for a quiet night.
