A Magnetic Click

I pressed both paws against a round wooden magnet shaped like an apple, resting low on the refrigerator's white enamel door. When I gave it a shove, the magnet resisted with a stubborn tug before gliding upward with a quiet, smooth scrape across the cool metal. I steered its path until it met a small brass paperclip pinned to the door. With a crisp, cheerful click, the magnet snapped onto the clip, locking both in a neat, steady alignment. Stepping back onto the woven rug to look at my handiwork, getting those two pieces to join together felt wonderfully satisfying.
