Hardware Acquisition
Crawling out from under the ceramic saucer, the hedge perimeter was predictably damp. I tracked the moss line along the flowerbed edging toward a galvanized steel watering can resting against the slate pavers. Tucked beneath the arched handle seam was a dropped black aluminum mini-carabiner with a spring-loaded gate. I tested the gate retention with both gloved thumbs—crisp recoil, zero grit in the hinge pin. Snapping it securely onto the side loop of my tactical harness provides a dependable quick-release anchor for rapid descents. Useful hardware salvaged from the dirt beats waiting around for official supply drops.
