First Step on the Carpet

The quiet room buzzed softly around me, and suddenly my sneakers didn't feel glued down anymore. I leaned forward, flexed my soft fingers, and lifted my right foot. It sank deep into the springy carpet fibers! Right behind me rested a colorful toy hammer and tiny blocks. I turned, crouched down, and gently tapped the handle of the hammer with my thumb. It moved! My legs really work, and I'm ready to play.
