Springboard Setup

I spotted a yellow retractable tape measure resting on the console table, sitting idle next to the key tray. That was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. Hooking my fingers under the steel tab at the end, I dug my boots against the rubber casing and hauled the curved metal blade outward until it bridged the open span across to a ceramic bowl. I kicked the thumb-lock slider down with a crisp snap, locking the extension firm. Stepping out onto the flexible metal strip, I gave a light bounce to test the give. It held steady under my weight—an instant, elevated runway covering the entire entryway.
