Crossing the Sill
The wooden sill offered open ground. Navigating the ceramic pots required absolute precision. I balanced along the narrow rim between terra cotta and glass, testing each step as morning sun warmed the ledge. Ahead, a dry brown leaf blocked the clear line of sight across the outer yard. I drew my right blade, levered the brittle obstacle aside without fracturing it, and cleared the vantage. The perimeter outside remains calm.
